What is TypingMaster Typing Test

The Typingmaster Typing Test is a small but effective program that measures typing speed as well as accuracy. It can be used for fun, to sharpen skills, to prepare for a work-related proficiency exam or any other purpose. It is completely free and very easy to use.

The program includes a number of texts to choose from along with a couple of simple games that are designed to improve skill and coordination. The menu is easy to explore, and it only takes a few seconds to choose a text to type and get started. This is a very simple and lightweight program that can be used by individuals, schools or even employers to accurately measure proficiency.

I downloaded and installed the program and was typing away in just a few minutes. The file is very small, and it doesn't include any hidden tricks, programs, ads or spyware. You can tell right away that this software is designed to get you typing as quickly as possible. You are presented with a block of text on the top of the screen and you type in the bottom. A counter automatically keeps track of how many keystrokes you perform per minute, and it also checks for errors.

I think the text is challenging enough to accurately measure my skill level. It includes words as well as symbols that would be commonplace on projects that would be typed in the real world. The texts that are used in the program are interesting and cover a range of topics. One of my favorites was the story about astronauts that included the history and origins of the word as well as some information about the early days of our space program.

The program does not include a lot of customizable features, and there are not a lot of text samples to type out. I would probably get through the entire repository in a few sessions, but this utility would be a great tool to use in the classroom or as a measure of general proficiency in the workplace. The program would be better if there were various skill levels and challenges that could be achieved as a way to chart progress and improvements over the course of time.
